The overall project involves the demolition of the existing Covered Courts facility on Somerset Road and construction of a new facility comprising of a new timber clad double curving roof structure building with 6 indoor courts and associated facilities, a single-story underground basement for parking for up to 338 vehicles, 6 external clay courts set within an ‘English Garden’ landscape, associated services installations and hard and soft landscaping.
The project, which includes important infrastructure for the wider site and below ground car parking, will play a key role in supporting and improving the operation of The Championships, Wimbledon. In particular, the Somerset Road development will become the transport hub for courtesy car operations and the arrival point for players participating in the annual event.
